Standing in the UK for 2008:

the fairytale white stallion::Raji

This tall, elegant stallion will be standing at AV Arabians on behalf of Dawn Sloan.

Raji was bred by the late Alun Prothero, creating a pedigree of both double Carmargue and four traces to Estopa. He is a tall, elegant stallion with a pretty face, huge eyes, great body and topline and good legs. Raji is the epitome of the Carmargue/Estopa cross, oozing type, and this gorgeous white stallion is a lovely mover and has a kind temperament.
Not only was this superb stallion a British National winner and res. National Champion as a colt, but also one of his sons, the Gore family’s EA Azniah El Shaklan was res. UKIAHS Champion and another was the res. National champion colt in France in 2006.

Standing at AV Arabians for 2008.
We are offering a special fee of only £750 for bookings made by 15th March.

Om El Bahreyn standing at Schoukens Training Centre for 2008!

After producing some super foals for us here, we feel Bahreyn is now ready to make his mark in Europe, and who better than the Schoukens team of Tom, Cathy and Glenn to be entrusted with this very special horse.

Please see Bahreyn’s page for further details.

Please contact myself or Tom @ www.schoukenstrainingcenter.com for breeding information.

We are very pleased to announce that G Shakib now has a super home with Julie Martin.

AV Arabians 2007 News

In 2007 Bahreyn gave us some lovely babies, the first a very pretty grey colt, AV Bellahgio out of Oml Belusena Dream. I was pleased to get a colt at last, as I wanted a Bahreyn son here, especially one with his pedigree, as the fabulous producer Om El Benedict (Sanadik El Shaklan x Om El Beneera out of Estopa) is both the dam of Bahreyn and Belusena Dream.

ZT Shakgeyma presented me with a gorgeous bay Bahreyn filly, a very elegant young lady named AV Bayonsay. Many thanks to John and Sue Bundy for foaling her and looking after AV Bayonsay so well as a baby.

I would like to congratulate the following for having their lovely mares in foal to Om El Bahreyn for 2008:
Sandra Menzel, Sue Beedle, Kaye Pinches, Caroline Kilford, Jane FraserBrown and Jo Nunn.

Congratulations also to MaryAnn Beckley with AV Vodkah, Jane Fraser Brown with Orion OS and Sandra Menzel with AV Bahiya for a very successful 2007 show season with their Om El Bahreyn babies.

AV Bahiya (Om El Bahreyn x Oml Belusena Dream) sold to Italy.

Many congratulations to Sandra Menzel on her acquisition of the fabulous, elegant black yearling filly AV Bahiya .  We are thrilled that AV Bahiya is with such a lovely owner, and also an important part of what must surely be one of the best collections of black horses in the world. www.almarhaba.com

AV Sehxee (Om El Extreem x ZT Shakgeyma)

Another well done to Bethany Bates who showed AV Sehxee to Supreme Champion first time out!. Not to be outdone, the gorgeous AV Faahrever (Eternity Ibn Navarrone x Om El Faarah) also took Champion with Bethany at a later show!

When selling one of my beloved horses it is very important to me to try to find the perfect m match – where the horse will perform the function the new owner requires, and in return will get a super, loving home.
I’m so pleased that the very showy AV Sehxee is now part of Bethany, Lori and Vic’s show team, as I know she will be loved and cared for as well as their other purchases from AV Arabians, AV Faahrever and Verapamila.

Metz and the team! L to R, Sue, Kath, Metz
and myself, Granie, Justin and Dad.

Metelica showed her socks off at the UKIAHS to come 2nd in a hot class to the eventual Champion, gaining 3 x 20’s on the way. Metz absolutely loves going to shows, and could hardly contain her excitement at Towerlands. I adore this fun loving mare, who has taken over the yard whilst Bahreyn is away!

We decided to take our house off the market, as we have everything we want here and have invested much time and money into setting up superb facilities for the horses.
I'm extremely fortunate to have a great team of helpers here. My manager is the excellent Kath Holmes, who works here weekdays until mid-afternoon and who runs the stud when we’re away competing.

Granie and Sue also do a great job at weekends and Granie helps at the shows. And Adam is on hand if we need some extra muscle! My parents, Keith and Valerie Reid are as supportive and helpful as ever.
Magdalina is very well, she rules the yard, and she's still very aware that she’s something special. In her mind she’s as young as ever, but physically she's a little stiff now

Stud News

For 2007 we have:
ZT Shakgeyma (El Shaklan x ZT Rageymasson) in foal to Om El Bahreyn
Om El Belusena Dream in foal to Om El Bahreyn
Kalinka (Kubinec x Nida) in foal to GR Amaretto

In January we had two foals born, the first, AV Krakatoa, a chestnut colt (Padesh x Kalinka by Kubinec) born in the mud at the bottom of the field at midday – Adam had to bring him back across the bumpy field in a wheelbarrow! AV Krakatoa lives up to his name, he is a red-chestnut and very, very showy, full of himself.

AV Sehxee

Om El Extreem

The second foal born was a grey filly, AV Sehxee, by Om El Extreem out of our El Shaklan daughter, ZT Shakgeyma. AV Sehxee is a pretty filly, and also very showy, with a huge trot and a squirrel tail over her back all the time.

In March we were surprised with a black filly by our stallion Om El Bahreyn, out of his maternal half-sister, Oml Belusena Dream. AV Bahiya is a very pretty, tall, elegant filly, which we were hoping for, but we weren't expecting black! She has inherited this from her dam's sire, Dreamcatcher SMF.

AV Bahiya

AV Scahrlett

In May we were presented with another Om El Bahreyn filly, AV Scahrlett, out of DA Sandala. AV Scahrlett thinks she’s a bit precious! Chestnut, very well put together with Om El Bahreyn's trademark high-set neck, super body and top-line and she is getting prettier and prettier by the day.

Mirabella, belonging to Dave and Yvonne Marriot, had a bay filly by Bahreyn and Sue Beedle with Pehreza had a grey filly by him. Bahreyn also sired 2 smart colts, also with fab attitude, one out of Vicki and Brenda Marsh's Hallana and one out of Jane Fraser-Brown's Vetla.
So, Bahreyn did a great job, 5 fillies and 2 colts, all to lovely mares and all quality babies.

Om El Bahreyn

At present Bahreyn is 'uncle' to AV Krakatoa, who was weaned a couple of months ago. Krakatoa lives in the stable next to Bahreyn and they are out together in the orchard all day. Bahreyn always looks after him, in fact, one wet day I brought them in early and Krakatoa snuck into Bahreyn's stable, lay down and went to sleep. Bahreyn stood over him eating his hay, much to the astonishment of a visiting vet! I have never known a stallion that is so intelligent and with such a kind temperament, yet will also switch on the pizzazz as soon as asked!

Due in 2007 we have:

Showing News

We had a lovely time at the shows this year, we only took only one or two horses to each show, but were very happy to come back with a Champion or Reserve at every show bar one.
Out first show was The Egyptian Event and UK Gold, now at a fantastic new venue, Windsor.
The layout was lovely and the stabling superb. It was the yearling colt AV Amore's (GR Amaretto x AV Chicfantasy)first outing and we were thrilled that he won and was reserve Champion, scoring 20’s for type and head and neck. He followed this up with Junior Male Champion and reserve Supreme at the South of England Show.

AV Amore

Metz

Next outing was Bath and West, where we took Lauren Young's Agonia (Gordon x Arina) to become Female Champion and reserve Supreme. Agonia later followed this up by coming 1st and reserve Champion Mare at the North Staffs show.

At Wessex we took Metelica out to party, she loves to go to shows and hates to be left behind! It was a very hot day, but 'Metz' continued to show off throughout and was rewarded with the Supreme! A fantastic day, completed by Lauren showing Agonia to 2nd , the first time Lauren had shown. Shortly after Wessex we were thrilled to hear that Metz's son AV Montoya, by WH Justice, was Supreme at Bicton!
Surely a unique feat to have mother and son Supreme at 2 C shows?!

AV Montoya

MHS Wytuki

We also took Metz to Towerlands, which she loved. She'd been to a couple of indoor shows a few years before and was slightly overawed by them, but now she was that bit older and more confident, she had a ball and was marked 20 for trot. We'll be taking her to Paris, she's not typey enough in the head for many European shows these days, but has type in bundles when it comes to movement, tail carriage and charisma. Plus very good conformation. She'll be sure to strut her stuff for the crowd. A dream to show a horse that enjoys herself so much!

The fabulous gelding MHS Wytuki belonging to Jo Nunn showed his socks off as usual at all the shows he went to this year, but had a bout of 'second-itis', just being pipped to the red each time.

Malvern was fabulous as usual. Lovely weather, apart from the traditional Saturday afternoon downpour, and, of course, the best setting for a show and a mini summer holiday for most of us.

We took DA Sandala (Sanadik El Shaklan x The Grand Passion), with her filly foal AV Scahrlett, by Bahreyn, for her first 'party'.

I have never taken a mare and foal to the Nationals before, as I worry about them being cooped up in the stable for four days, but a friend told me that years ago she had booked two stables and had the divider taken down to make one large stable for her mare and foal, so I did the same. It was expensive, but worth it. The back partition was left out of two of the temporary stables that were back to back and it worked really well - not only was there plenty of room for Sandala and Scahrlett, but also a nice through-draft that kept the stable cool in the July sun.

The stables we were allocated were very close to the main showground and Scahrlett was soon receiving lots of visitors, which she thought was great! With Granie helping to lead up, Sandala came 2nd in her class, and little Scahrlett did us proud by winning! Naturally, we were a tad apprehensive about showing her at her first event, but we needn't have worried, she was a little star, and she gave a very nice trot and posed like a pro! We went back into the main ring for the Foal Championship and judge Nick Arnold awarded Scahrlett with res. British National Champion.

AV Scahrlett

AV Vodkah

We only breed 2 – 4 foals a year, so 2006 was a great year for us with our homebreds: the yearlings multi-Champion AV Amore (particularly special to us as he is out of a homebred mare), AV Montoya belonging to John and Sue Bundy and the grey filly AV Vodkah. AV Vodkah, another Bahreyn filly, out of Vorojeia, belongs to Denise and Stuart Knights and was also a Champion and C show winner for them in her first season.
And to top it all, we bred two res. British National Champions, AV Scahrlett and AV Montoya.
